Shadow Bats are shadow-possessed flying enemies, and a very common one at that. The Hero can defeat Shadow Bats by shooting them, slashing them, or jumping on them once. They also follow the Hero around. They also appear in the Wii version.

Trivia
- A glitch can occur where the Shadow Bat's sprite remains still and does not move.
- Shadow bats may be based off of Battons, an enemy in the classic Mega man games.
