Shadow Cages are cages made of Shadow in Drawn to Life. They are only seen and used within levels and it is required to destroy all three/rescue all three Raposa in order to complete the level.

Shadow Cages trap Villagers who have left the Village in search of a new home. Once encountered, the Hero must hit the cage three times, either by pressing or , freeing the trapped Raposa.

Once a Raposa is freed, they will go through their cheering animation and speak a short amount of dialog before fading into the sub-screen GUI.

Shadow Cages show up in almost every Drawn to Life level, including most boss levels; the only level they do not appear in is the final boss level.

They make no appearance in the sequel. Instead, stranded Raposa will remain stationary around normally-inaccessible or hard-to-reach areas until they are found. They are also optional and not necessary to complete the level, unlike the Raposa trapped in Shadow Cages, which are required.

Appearance[]

Shadow Cages, as their name implies, are cages composed completely of Shadow. Because of this, they share their same overall appearance. They are black, seem to have a texture similar to but not the same as Shadow Goo, and also appear weblike in some ways.

Shadow Cages have four visible vertical bars.

Trivia[]

  • When hit, Shadow Cages emit smaller particles of themselves. This is similar to the player when they take damage, and Shadow Creatures when they are attacked and defeated.
